Theory: AIDS is a man-made disease meant to eradicate African Americans and homosexuals. Some theorists also say there is a cure for the disease being withheld by the government.

Facts: The cause of AIDS is the HIV virus (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), as discovered by Dr. Robert Gallo in 1984. Many in the scientific community believe that the HIV virus jumped from African monkeys to humans in the 1930s. As of 2009, nearly 33 million people have been infected by the virus globally. In 1978 more than 1,000 nonmonogomous homosexual adult males received an experimental vaccination for hepatitis B courtesy of the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control. Within six tears 64% of those men had AIDS. There is also another instance in a region in Africa where experimental smallpox vaccines were given by the World health Organization. That region of Africa later became one of the most AIDS-wrecked areas on the continent.

Unanswered Questions: The first whispers of an AIDS conspiracy theory came in 1984 when an Indian newspaper out of New Delhi quoted an official report by the US Army regarding “natural and artificial influences on the human immune system”. The newspaper reported that scientists from Fort Derrick (the Army’s biological weapons research lab) ventured into the depths of African searching for a virus that was yet unfound in Europe and Asia. Data gathered from the trip resulted in an “isolated virus that causes AIDS”. The United States responded that the article was just a communist ploy by the URSS. Historian Wolfgang Eggert claims that the American Defense Department proposed a bill to Senate seeking a 10 billion dollar grant to research a new virus that would be capable of destroying the human immune system.

Ideas: A group of 500 African Americans were surveyed in 2005 and more than half said that AIDS was created by the government. Theorists believe it is being used as the ultimate biological weapon to eradicate homosexuals, African Americans or for population control in general. Theorists believe the US government would see the discovery and possession of such a lethal disease as absolute military supremacy throughout the world. Some insist that the government deliberately injected gay men with the virus during 1978 hepatitis-B experiments in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Conspire.com Judgment: Although we don’t believe there is a cure for AIDS being withheld from the government, we at Conspire believe it could indeed be possible that AIDS was created in a government lab, or that the United States was interested in the acquiring a biological weapon as a means of global control, if ever militarily necessary. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time the United States had tested biological weapons on humans. There are many on-the-record accounts of military assaults on U.S. cities and citizens with germs and toxins. There was the Tuskegee Syphilis Study and the Puerto Rico Cancer Experiments.
