The Death of Princess Diana

Theory: Princess Diana was murdered by the Royal Family
Facts: On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed (son of Mohamed Fayed, Egyptian émigré and owner of the Ritz Hotel and Harrods) were killed in a car accident while trying to get away from press photographers in Paris.
Diana was constantly hounded by photographers and her romance with Fayed had just gone public that August, making pressure from photographers even worse. Diana and Fayed had just had dinner at the Ritz Paris and to avoid photographers, snuck out the back door to an idling Mercedes. After the accident, investigators found the driver had a huge level of alcohol in his bloodstream. The Princess’ car was unable to dodge photographers and reportedly reached speeds of more than 125mph upon entering the Point de l’Alma Tunnel, where it went out of control. Conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Diana and Fayed were so common that Mohamed Fayed even publically supported the theory that Diana and his son had been murdered.
Unanswered Questions: It’s still unknown why the driver of the Mercedes had a large sum of money deposited into his bank account.
Ideas: Conspiracy theorists believe that Diana was killed because the British royal family doesn’t like Muslims, and that Diana was reportedly about to marry one. British Intelligence had pledged to always protect the monarchy, and the monarchy wasn’t willing to have a Muslim act as stepfather to the heir of the throne (Prince William). Another Diana conspiracy relates that Prince Charles had Diana killed so he could finally marry his longtime love Camilla Parker-Bowles or even that she intended to convert to Islam or that she was pregnant with Fayed’s child.
Conspire.com Judgment: As sad as the folks at Conspire.com were at the loss of a Princess, we believe it was purely accident. Maybe it’s because we don’t want to believe that the royal family has such evil intentions to murder the doting mother to two young boys, or because a part of us is enamored by the royal family, but the death of Princess Diana was nothing more than an irresponsible drunk driver and harassment by the paparazzi.
